Black-Gold Cruises To 8-1 Win Over Artisan Construction In First Round Game

NEW HAVEN, Mo. - Black-Gold cruised to an easy 8-1 win in five innings in Saturday’s first round game of the 14th Annual Black-Gold Tournament.

Black-Gold scored in the fourth on , an RBI double by Justin Wurtz, an RBI single by Brad Johnson.

Eric Steinbeck struck out 11, paving the way for a Black-Gold win. Eric allowed one earned run, two hits and no walks over five innings.  Steinbeck struck out the first eight batters faced, retiring  10 straight.

Berrah Brown JR couldn't get it done in the circle for Artisan Construction, taking a loss. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked two and struck out seven.

The lead stayed with Black-Gold after the first, when it scored three runs on an RBI single by Kurt Speckhals and a two-run triple by Dean Haeffner.

Black-Gold will play their next game at 3:30 p.m. against the Pickneyfille Falcons on Lions Field.

If Black-Gold wins they advance into Sunday’s Semi-final at 10:30 a.m. if they would lose then they would play tonight at 7 p.m. on Bock Field.
