Scenic Point Drive surrounded by smoke as Washington Fire Department works to put out the fire.
WASHINGTON, Mo. – Washington Fire Department responded to a house fire on Scenic Point Drive in Washington, MO earlier today, Monday August 11.
Washington Fire Chief Bill Helmich said, “We got two 911 calls for a house fully involved on Scenic Point Drive. On our arrival we had fire through the roof, 50 percent of flame and smoke environment, and it was advancing to the rest of the house to the North.”
He said there was a car in the driveway, and they’ve been to the residence before for medical runs, so he had a crew go in the garage entrance to search the bedroom, which was not involved, and do a primary search. He had another crew search the basement because they “had taken people out of the basement before.”
The primary search crew was negative and the fire was advancing so Helmic “had to pull everybody out and go defensive.”
Later, Helmich said they were able to verify that nobody was home at the time of the fire.
