The first Fall freeze is expected Thursday night into Friday morning with temperatures falling into the mid to upper 20s particularly in low lying and rural areas.
With daytime temperatures about ten degrees lower than normal for this time of year, this next round of cold air will be the coldest so far this fall, and will bring frost and freezing temperatures to much of Mid-Missouri by Thursday morning, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Freeze Watch.
The watch has been issued for late Thursday night through Friday morning. This will be the first time this Fall temperatures will fall below freezing. Be prepared to protect any tender vegetation and bring temperature-sensitive plants indoors.
Below average temperatures will continue for the remainder of the work week, and the latest weather data suggests another very cold night on Thursday night with low temperatures at or below 30 over most of the region.
