UNION, Mo. - The Franklin County SWAT Team assisted authorities in Ferguson, Mo last night and will be assisting them once again this evening.
“We will be providing assistance on an as need basis as the situation continues. Our participation is the result of a “request” not an order from the Highway Patrol and St. Louis County Police”, said Sheriff Gary Toelke.
“These agencies and others have assisted us on many occasions in the past with manpower and equipment protecting the citizens of Franklin County at no cost to us. We have been extremely grateful for their help. We are now assisting them and their citizens in a very critical situation.”
Franklin County joins other neighboring law enforcement agencies who have responded to help provide protection to Ferguson residence from the terrorist acts that continue to be committed by unlawful individuals.
