Gas Bomb Thrown At Residence Near Gerald Missouri

GERALD, Mo. - Franklin County Sheriff Gary Toelke said that Monday night deputies  responded to a residence in the 9000 block of Red Oak Road, 11 miles south of Gerald off of Highway AN.

Toelke said that deputies responded at approximately 7:53 p.m.  The reporting party stated that someone had thrown a gas bomb at their residence.

The victim stated that she was home with her children when someone knocked on her door.  She stated that she answered the door and made contact with her neighbor who asked if she would watch their residence while they were gone, which she agreed to do.

After closing the door the victim stated observed the neighbor running to his vehicle and then heard an odd sound and observed flames coming from her porch.

The property owner stated that she was able to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher, then noticed beer cans on the porch that smelled like gasoline.

Franklin County Arson Investigator Jim Schuhmacher has been called in to assist.  Further investigation is being conducted.
