HERMANN, Mo. – Wednesday night the Gasconade County R-I Board of Education announced the hiring of Dr. Tracey Hankins, who will replace outgoing superintendent Dr. Chris Neale. Hankins will officially join the district on July 1, 2015.
Brenda Bader, Board President said, “The Board is very pleased to welcome Dr. Hankins to the top leadership post in our school district. Dr. Hankins has a strong skill set and a record of significant success in her previous positions. We welcome Dr. Hankins to our school and community and look forward to our continued success and progress under her leadership.”
Dr. Tracey Hankins is currently the superintendent of schools in the Miller R-II School district in Southwest Missouri. She has previously served as Elementary principal for the Republic and Aurora School districts. Dr. Hankins teaching background is in elementary education, having served students in the Galena, Miller, and Aurora districts.
“We were fortunate to have a large candidate pool in this process,” said Bader. “While we found many of the candidates strong, we were impressed with Dr. Hankins’ track record as well as her leadership experience beyond her district. She has served her professional organizations as well as been active with legislative issues. This has been important to our district in the past and we are pleased it will continue.”
While Hankins does not officially start until July 1, she plans to be in the district as much as possible during the rest of the year. She will be working with the Board and current superintendent, Dr. Chris Neale, to ensure a smooth transition.
Dr. Hankins expressed her thoughts about the new position, “I am excited to be a part of the great Hermann tradition! I am looking forward to joining the Bearcat team and community, as well as making Hermann my home. I anticipate with delight meeting the people that make Hermann a great place to be.”
