Gerald Aldermen reject bids, almost $79,000 difference in submissions

Gerald, Mo. – The Gerald Board of Aldermen met for a Special meeting last Tuesday, August 27, to discuss various ordinances and “Unfinished Business”.

The sealed bids for the closing of the East Lagoon were opened; two bids were received.

Bids submitted included one bid from Strothkamp Excavating, Sullivan, totaling $113,400 and another from John Blankenship Excavating, Rosebud, totaling $34,500.

With a $78,900 difference, both bids were rejected and the Board voted to put more detailed bid specifications together and submit the specs for re-bid.

The Gerald Tax rate was fixed to 0.9502 with 0.7452 to the General Fund and 0.2050 to the Park Fund, effective August 27, 2013.
