NEW HAVEN, Mo. - On Monday (May 18) New Haven Elementary students and faculty and staff joined members of the New Haven PTO in an official ground breaking ceremony, marking the beginning of construction and eventually installation of state of the art equipment.
That afternoon not only did students play on the current equipment one last time, but teachers and PTO members also joined in on the fun.
PTO members said, “None of this would be possible without all the hard work from past PTO members who began working towards this project, the amazing support of the New Haven Community, countless volunteers who worked at numerous fundraisers, as well as the support from the New Haven School District."
PTO members wanted to stress the amount of hard work that all the students have put forth by holding their own fundraisers and deserve just as much credit for making it possible for them to have a new playground.

Over the past two years PTO members had made it their goal to one day have the funds to purchase new equipment, but never imagined they would raise $51,000, the amount needed, in such a short period of time. Making a dream now become a reality.
Construction has already begun with removal of the current equipment, which began on Wednesday.

New Haven Elementary Kasi Meyer said, “The City of New Haven’s Park Superintendent, Kirby Menke as well as the city have been absolutely wonderful throughout the entire process. I can't imagine this level of support anywhere else.”
Construction and installation is expected to be completed prior to the start of the 2015-2016 school and a ribbon cutting ceremony has been schedule to take place during open house in August.

Menke said that the city plans to utilize the equipment to help further improve New Haven’s City Park, providing additional playground equipment that members of the community can enjoy.
