When Bank of Franklin County's Charlie Tyree steps up to bat, outfielders may want to take a few steps back because this young five-year-old has some slugging power, earning him in the Re/Max Today Little League Spotlight.
While Tyree will be remembered by opponents for his hitting, fans will always remember Tyree being the player who slides into home plate every time.
We asked Charlie where he learned how to slide so well he said, "No one, I taught myself." He's a pretty good teacher then because his form and technique is better than kids three times his age.
Charlie's favorite player is his 13-year-old cousin Jack Tyree who also plays baseball and is his team's catcher.
Charlie's favorite position to play is first base. When asked why he said, "Because everyone throws you the ball."
It was no shocker that batting and sliding into home plate are his two favorite things about baseball.
Right now Charlie hopes to grow up and be a truck driver.
