Shamrocks Win First Postseason Game In Two Years Over St. Vincent 54-41

New Haven, Mo. -  Monday night New Haven picked up their first postseason win in two years as the Shamrocks had three players post double figures for the sixth time on the year.

Kyle Ruediger led New Haven's balanced scoring attack with a game high 17 points with Alex Poggas adding 11 points and Brandon Carey contributing 10 points as the Shamrocks knocked off #7St. Vincent 54-41.

New Haven jumped out to seven point lead early in the second quarter, 17-10.  St. Vincent would go on an 8-2 run and pull within one, 19-18.  Seth Schenck answered with a 15-footer as time expired to end the half and give New Haven a five point halftime lead 23-18.

Throughout the season Ross Seitter has been New Haven’s “spark plug”.  With New Haven clinging to a five point lead late in the third quarter at the 1:23 mark, Seitter drove baseline and found Ruediger cutting down the lane which led to an easy layup. (31-24)

On the ensuing play Seitter picked off a pass a mid court to give New Haven their largest lead, 33-24, before Carey drained a deep three from the corner as New Haven led by 10, 36-26.

New Haven extended their 7-2 run into the fourth quarter by scoring six straight points in the first four minutes, taking a 16 point lead.(42-26)

St. Vincent tried making a late quarter to pull within 11 at the 2:47 mark but New Haven answered and closed out strong hitting their free throws down the stretch as they picked up their third straight win, improving to 18-8.

Tonight the Shamrocks will take on #6Crossroads after a stunning upset over #3Valle Catholic 58-53.

#1Elsberry will play #4Kingston at 5:30.  The winners will then play on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.

With the Lady Shamrocks win over Barat Academy last night New Haven will go for their third straight district title at 6 p.m. on Friday against #3Elsberry.
