Wednesday evening storms tear apart roof of church.
Union, Mo. – This evening’s severe storms left behind wide spread damage across much of Franklin County keeping emergency crews busy.
Wednesday evening around 6 p.m. storms began ripping through Union, St. Clair, Washington, Sullivan, and areas near I-44 and Highway 100.
The National Weather Service reported wind speeds in excess of 100 mph at the Sullivian Airport. An unconfirmed report of a tornado was spotted just south of the airport.

The roof of the First Baptist Church next to Walgreens had portions blown off, leaving behind twisted metal hanging, and a wide area debris.
Emergency crews remain busy hours after the storm originally hit, responding mostly to downed power lines caused by tree limbs falling.
