Tim Wenkel To Return As Hermann Head Boys Basketball Coach

HERMANN, Mo. -  After leaving Hermann High School two years ago, Varsity Boys Basketball Coach Tim Wenkel will likely return.  This comes after Tim Spiers, replaced Wenkel, resigned from the coaching position last month.

Yesterday Gasconade County R-1 School District Superintendent Chris Neale announced that he will recommend the school board hire Wenkel as Head Boys Basketball Coach.

Neale said, “While the Board won't act on the recommendation until the regular meeting on May 8, I have already notified them of my recommendation.”

Wenkel had also interviewed for the open coaching position at New Haven.  His reason for wanting to return to Hermann Wenkel said, “I feel like Hermann is home to me and I have a lot of support from the community.”

Following the 2011 - 2012 basketball season Wenkel, who had been at Hermann for the past five years, resigned after accepting a position with Bishop LaBlonde High School in St. Joseph, Mo.

Before the start of the 2012 - 2013 season he resigned due to personal reason from St. Joseph.  The following year (2013 - 2014) Wenkel became the head coach at Russelville High School.

Before it can be official, the Russelville School Board must first approve to let Wenkel out of his current contract from the coaching position there and as Superintended Neale mentioned, the Gasconade County R-1 school board must approve the hiring of Wenkel.
