Two buzzer beaters decide consolation game in New Haven Tournament - Video of how it all unfolded

Video of the dramatic finish below.

New Haven, Mo. – Twenty-four minutes was not enough to decide Sunday’s third place game in the New Haven 6th grade tournament.  The Chamois Pirates led by seven 27-20 with just under three minutes left in the fourth quarter when R-2 mounted a dramatic, which began with back-to-back three’s to pull with in one with 1:45 left on the clock. (27-26).

Chamois answered to give themselves a three-point lead, 29-26, with less than one minute from taking home the third place trophy.  There is nothing more exciting than watching young players make big time plays when the game is on the line.

With 14 seconds left R-2 was forced to foul send Chamois to the line and a chance to make it a two-possession game.  Chamois missed the front end of a one-and-one and R-2 made them pay.  R-2 pushed the ball up the floor only to drain a three from the top of the key with less than five seconds left, forcing overtime.

Overtime was just as dramatic as the last three minutes of regulation.  R-2 scored on their first possession to take a two-point lead. (31-29) Chamois made it a one-point game after hitting one of two free throws, making it a one-point game. (31-30)

R-2 came right back draining their fourth three pointer since the three min mark in the fourth quarter and less than a minute left in overtime. (34-30)  Again Chamois answered, making it a two point game, 34-32, followed by hitting one of two free-throws pulling Chamois with one,34-33, and less than 30 seconds left.

It was only fitting that the game ended with a last second shot after R-2’s dramatic comeback to force the game into overtime, however this time it was the Pirates who hit the game winner and ending, in what could have been a fairy tail victory for the Huskies.
Chamois’ game ending shot gave them a one point win and a third place finish.

Watch how the last seconds of regulation unfolded as well as overtime.  What a game!
