Washington Man Commits Suicide - Recently Discharged From Military

Washington, Mo. - This morning, at approximately 9:59 a.m., Washington officers responded to a report of a possible suicide by gunshot in the 200 block of Wenona Drive.  

A neighbor "heard a pop" and then walked out and saw a subject lying in the back yard of a residence behind him.  He walked over and saw the gun and then called the police.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim lying face down in the back yard bleeding from an obvious gunshot wound to the head.

The victim had a 45 caliber black semi-automatic pistol in his hand with a magazine lying nearby.   

Paramedic Randy Wolking pronounced the victim at 10:02 a.m.  Victim was identified as 30 year old Tyson W. Ryland.

Investigation revealed the victim’s sister and brother-in-law work at Tradco in Washington. 

Notification was made, and the sister stated her brother had been staying at their residence for a short time.  They stated he was discharged from the military about six months ago and has been despondent for some time.

The victim was transported by Russell Funeral Home to the Medical Examiner’s office in St. Louis.  Investigation to continue.
