Franklin County R-2 And PTO Team Up To Host Family Reading Nights

NEW HAVEN, Mo. - Franklin County R-2 has been taking steps to encourage students to read more by getting family members involved through a Family Reading Night held monthly.

Each month a different theme is chosen as a way to help broaden student’s knowledge on the many different types of books.  February’s theme reading night theme was “Mixed Up Fairy Tales”, which was held on the 24th.

PUBLIC NOTICE OF FILING

The Franklin County R-II School District will accept declarations of candidacy from any resident taxpayer, 24 years of age or older, who is eligible to file for a position on the School Board in the April 7, 2015, election.  Persons interested may file at the superintendent’s offices located at 3128 Highway Y, New Haven, Missouri.

Filing will begin on December 16, 2014, at 8:00 a.m. and will continue during the district’s regular business hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Franklin County R-II Says Goodbye To Graduating Eighth Grade Class Of 2014

NEW HAVEN, Mo. - Thursday night Franklin County R-II School’s Eighth Grade Graduating class ended one chapter in their life as they said goodbye to a school where they first began Kindergartener ten years ago.

In his welcome address, Salutatorian Owen Buchheit said, “At R-II this isn't just where we finish middle school and go on to high school. We have to choose from several different high schools which can be a difficult choice for some students. Sadly, that means we will be parting ways and likely this will be the last time we are all together in this school.”

NEW HAVEN, Mo. - Each year Franklin County R-II second grade teacher, Mrs. Hesemann, decorates a T-shirt for every student in her class who reads at least 100 books during the school year.

NEW HAVEN, Mo. - With A touch of a button famous Missourians from NASCAR driver Carl Edwards to former President Harry S Truman came to life to tell their life stories at Franklin County R-2’s “Famous Missourian Wax Museum” Wednesday afternoon.

Franklin County R-2 Kindergarten Registration

Franklin County R-2 - Kindergarten registration for the 2014-15 school year for the Franklin County R-II School District will be held on Thursday, March 6th, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

At this time, we will discuss kindergarten readiness and the screening process.

Parents will receive information about what we would like children to know before entering Kindergarten.

There will be an opportunity for discussion and questions with the principal.

For enrollment in Kindergarten this coming fall, your child must be five years of age before August 1, 2014. To register, please bring your child’s birth certificate, Social Security card, and immunization records.  We also need proof of residency, for example, a tax bill or utility bill with your address works the best.

Franklin County R-II PTO Donates $25,000 In Playground Equipment

New Haven, Mo. - Thanks to the Franklin County R-II PTO, students returned for the start of a new school year on Wednesday and a brand new set of playground equipment.

PTO President Kathy Vandergriffe said, "Last year at each of our three main fundraisers, we promoted that all funds would go towards the purchasing new playground equipment and the response we received was absolutely amazing."
