R-II Summer School Cool Down

New Haven, Mo. - After four hot weeks of summer school the New Haven/Berger Fire Department had to stop by on Thursday to cool off students at R-II School.

Since Thursday was their final day of summer school, students saw the opportunity and seized the moment to attack one of their teachers, Mrs. Tiffany Strubberg, bombing her with water balloons and squirt toys.

Franklin County R-2 Eighth Grade Class Says Their Goodbyes

New Haven, Mo. - Franklin County R-2 School is unique in many ways compared to the majority of other K-8 schools.  The difference that sets R-2 apart from others is graduating 8th graders have several options of where they plan to attend high school and even though the majority will begin the next chapter in their lives at New Haven, others may not.

Similar to graduating from high school, classmates at R-2 said their goodbyes Monday night to those who will be taking a different path in pursing their education at different high schools.

Each year at Franklin County R-II, Mrs. Kay Hesemann encourages her second grade students to read by having them join her 100 Book Club. 

At the end of the year, the students who have met their goal of reading 100 books are awarded with a t-shirt made especially for them by Mrs. Hesemann.

Each year Southeast Missouri State (SMSU) holds a writing contest for students across the State of Missouri for students in grades 4-12, which are divided into three separate grade divisions.

Two Franklin County R-2 students, Kendall Frick and Lauren Hoerstkamp both received Southeast Missouri State’s Writing Achievement Award by placing in the top three in their age divisions.

Franklin County R-II second graders perform The Bremen Town Musicians

Thursday morning Mrs.Hesemann’s second grade class at R-II, performed a play titled The Bremen Town Musicians.  Hesemann said, “We do this activity as part of our reading curriculum.  It is a fun project for students during the last few weeks of the school year.”

Franklin County R-II Kindergarten Screening March 5th

Kindergarten registration for the 2015-2016 school year for the Franklin County R-II School District will be held on Thursday, March 5th from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.

At this time they will discuss kindergarten readiness and the screening process.  Parents will receive information about what the school would like children to know before entering Kindergarten.

For enrollment in Kindergarten this coming fall, your child must be 5 years old before the first August 1, 2015.
