Black-Gold Cruises To 8-1 Win Over Artisan Construction In First Round Game

NEW HAVEN, Mo. - Black-Gold cruised to an easy 8-1 win in five innings in Saturday’s first round game of the 14th Annual Black-Gold Tournament.

Black-Gold scored in the fourth on , an RBI double by Justin Wurtz, an RBI single by Brad Johnson.

Eric Steinbeck struck out 11, paving the way for a Black-Gold win. Eric allowed one earned run, two hits and no walks over five innings.  Steinbeck struck out the first eight batters faced, retiring  10 straight.

Fastpitch Returns to New Haven with 14th Annual Black Gold Softball Classic

NEW HAVEN, Mo. - The annual Black Gold Softball Tournament returns to New Haven City Park this coming weekend on Saturday June 28th and Sunday June 29th.   An annual fastpitch tournament in the area dates back to the 1960’s with the New Haven Cubs tournament.  After the Cubs folded in 1999, the Black Gold Softball Classic was started.  It was played in the Hermann area for nearly 10 years before returning to New Haven last year.

NEW HAVEN, Mo. - Sunday afternoon (June 8) Missouri University S&T's Assistant Softball Coach, Chad Schatz instructed the first session of the softball pitching clinic held by the New Haven Youth League Association, at Lions Field.

“We thought the league needed more instruction on pitching,” youth league board member, Tracy Langenberg said. “And later it will benefit the high school team.”
