Sidewalk From Highway 100 To New Haven High School Fully Funded Through Federal Grant

NEW HAVEN, Mo. - In 2012 the City of New Haven applied for the Federal Safe School Route Grant that would have a sidewalk built from Highway 100 to New Haven High School.  In October of 2013 New Haven was awarded the Federally Funded Grant, which would allow the construction of the sidewalk, which is 100% funded by the Federally funded program.

Monday - Today is really the beginning of what will be a very jammed packed agenda over the next four days.  This morning’s first stop was at Monticello where they not only enjoyed beautiful weather but amazing scenery before heading off to Washington D.C. where they arrived at our Nations Capital around 2 p.m. CST.

NEW HAVEN, Mo
. - New Haven/Berger and Washington Fire Departments responded at 1:13 p.m. earlier this afternoon for a shed fire on Enochs Knob Road just off of Highway 185 and approximately 7 miles southeast of New Haven, Mo.

It is unclear as to what caused Sunday afternoon’s first alarm shed fire.  QNN reporter Kelly Hoffman was not able to obtain much information other than the shed was a complete lose. 

Roland Glen Von Holten December 6, 1936 - April 18, 2015

Roland Glen Von Holten, 78, of Hermann, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015 at University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia.

Mr. Von Holten was born in Deer Grove, Illinois on December 6, 1936, the son of the late Carl and Beulah (nee Williford) Von Holten.

He was the husband of Beverly (O'Brien) Von Holten.  They were married June 20, 1959 in Morrison, Illinois. 

Roland proudly served his county in the U.S. Army.  He was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Hermann, Missouri. He was a farmer and after retiring Roland and Beverly moved to Hermann.

Sunday  - After spending most of Saturday driving, day 2 of Senior Trip 2015 involved stops at some truly amazing places.  Their first stop was at the amazing Biltmore Estates and Asheville, NC.  Students had the opportunity to take a tour of the Biltmore, which sits on 125,000 acres.

Senior Trip 2015 -  Day 1 was filled with lots of time on the road but did make a few stops along the way to Newport, TN where they spent the day.

After departing New Haven at 5:30 a.m. their first stop was in Nashville, IL for breakfast before heading on Nashville, TN at the Opry Mills Shopping Center.

MDC, DNR, James Foundation host free fishing days for kids 15 and under May 2 and 16.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), in cooperation with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and The James Foundation, will offer FREE FISHING FOR KIDS ages 15 years and younger at Missouri’s four trout parks on two days in May. This is the 35th year for this free event to help kids discover fishing.

Free fishing for kids on May 2 at Montauk State Park

MDC and DNR will offer free fishing and other fun activities for kids ages 15 years and younger at Montauk State Park southeast of Licking on Saturday, May 2, from 6:30 a.m. to 8:15 p.m. Young anglers can get their free trout tags at the registration booth from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 1, and all day Saturday.

The Vipers consist of players from the Franklin County area, including New Haven.

BALLWIN, Mo. - Last weekend on Sunday April, 12 the Vipers went 5-0 to take first place in the St. Louis West Athletic Association (STLWAA) baseball season opener (12 & under age group ) tournament in Ballwin, Mo.
