Melissa Moffatt McCarty, 31-years-old of Beaufort, Mo passed away Thursday.

Funeral Service Tuesday at 11 a.m. the Oltmann Funeral Home in Union; burial to follow in the Mt Hope Cemetery in Lonedell, MO. Visitation for 31 year old Melissa Moffatt McCarty will be held Monday from 3-8 p.m. at the Oltmann Funeral Home in Union, MO.

BEAUFORT, MO ― The Mark and Jennifer Eckstein family, of Beaufort, Mo. represented Franklin County during the Missouri State Fair’s Farm Family Day in Sedalia. They were selected by the Franklin County University of Missouri Extension Council and Franklin County Farm Bureau.

Gladys Ottilie Bolte (April 23, 1921 - July 22, 2014)

Gladys Bolte of Beaufort, MO passed away on Tuesday, July 22. 

She is survived by four sons, Gary Bolte and his wife Brenda of Union, MO, Glenn Bolte of Beaufort, MO, Galen Bolte of Beaufort, MO, Greg Bolte and wife Amy of Beaufort, MO.

Mrs. Bolte is also survived by five daughters Bonnie Bolte of Beaufort, MO, Linda Pohlmann and her husband Dale of Beaufort, MO, Janice Pohlmann and her husband Glen of Beaufort, MO, Carol Mangrum and husband Steve of Eurkea, MO, and Ellen Bolte of Beaufort, MO.

Kaylin Bade Inducted Into Two International Honor Societies At Missouri Baptist University

Kaylin Bade, a student at Missouri Baptist University, has been inducted into the Chi Pi chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society in education that fosters excellence in education and promotes fellowship among those dedicated to teaching. 

She has also been inducted into the Psi Psi chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, an international English honor society dedicated to fostering literacy and all aspects of the discipline of English.

Bade is a senior from Leslie, Mo., who is a double major in English and Secondary Education.  She is the Secretary of the Union FFA Alumni Chapter and a substitute teacher in Franklin County schools.  Bade is scheduled to graduate from Missouri Baptist University in May 2015.

BREAKING NEWS: Beaufort/Leslie Fire Battles Brush Fire - "Someone Told Me To Burn My Trash"

LESLIE, Mo. - At this time there is not a single fire department in Franklin County that does not have crews out battling brush fires, leaving volunteer fire departments tapped for resources.

At approximately 5 p.m. this evening Beaufort/Leslie fire initially responded to the area between Leslie and East Avenue for a brush, which was quickly upgraded to a first alarm structure fire after it quickly spread to two neighboring homes.

Beaufort/Leslie Fire Crews Respond To Brush Fire After Careless Burning

The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a Red Flag Fire Warning for wind and low relative humidity which is in effect from noon today until 5 PM CST this afternoon.

Beaufort, Mo. - Extreme dry conditions combined with wind speeds steady at 20 mph and gusting up to 40 and 50 mph did not prevent one individual from lighting a small fire earlier this afternoon, which lead to Beaufort/Leslie Fire crews having to respond after the fire quickly began to spread.

Residents have continued to ignore warnings about burning, particularly with gusty winds over the past week, keeping volunteer fire departments busy across Franklin County. (Full story below.  We also spoke with Franklin County on the number of brush fire just in the past week.)

BREAKING NEWS: Three Fire Departments Respond To Yet Another Brush Fire Off Enochs Knob Road

New Haven, Mo. - Shortly after 12 p.m. this afternoon Washington Fire Department responded for a brush fire in the area of Enochs Know Road and the rock quarry, just west of Highway 185.

Two additional fire departments, Beaufort/Leslie and New Haven also responded to assist.  Watch live report below for more details.

Note:  According to the National Weather Service winds were steady at 20 mph and gusting up to 30 mph at the time of the initial call.

Rosebud Man Sustained Minor Injuries In Head-On Crash -Highway 185 Shutdown Nearly One Hour

Beaufort, Mo. - Saturday morning one person suffered minor injuries in a two vehicle head-on accident on Highway 185, approximately one-quarter of a mile south of Highway 50.

Beaufort/Leslie Fire and Gerald EMS responded at 11:40 a.m. to the vehicle crash that left Highway 185 shut down for approximately one hour as southbound traffic was diverted down Kenning Road.
