UPDATED: Beaufort Brush And Second Alarm Fire Under Investigation

Fire Crews spent eight hours on the scene of last night's fire dealing with the 80 round bales after the fire spread, catching them on fire.

Beaufort, Mo. - Friday evening’s large brush fire is under investigation after destroying two structures, one being a large metal shed used to store farming equipment, all of which was a complete loss.  There were also approximately 80 round bales inside and around the metal shed which also caught fire.

Hunter's Front Porch Robbery Leads to Meth Bust

Beaufort, Mo. - This morning Franklin County Sheriff  Gary Toelke released a statement regarding a theft of a backpack and firearm from a residence in the Beaufort area off Highway 185 last Tuesday. (Nov. 26)

The victim witnessed observed a white male in a White Chevy truck grab his hunting rifle and pack off of his porch before taking off at a high rate of speed.

Wednesday afternoon an on-duty Franklin County deputy was in a Washington area gun shop checking on an order, when irony and stupidity led to the arrest of a white male and female.

Beaufort, Mo. - Earlier this evening around 6:30 p.m. Beaufort/Leslie Fire responded to the area of Highway YY and Ash Tree Lane, just east of Highway 185 for a brush fire.

Two Local Men Seriously Injured in Early Morning Crash After Being Ejected

Beaufort, Mo. - Early this morning at approximately 6:30 a.m., a one-vehicle crash occured on Highway EE, one-half mile north of Neier Road. 

Driver Leonard Luechtefeld, 31, of Owensville, travelled off the east side of the roadway in his 2004 Ford F250 before overturning and striking a parked vehicle. 

One Killed in Fiery Highway 50 Head-On Crash

Beaufort, Mo. - Earlier this evening at approximately 4:55 p.m. Beaufort/Leslie and Union Fire Departments along with four ambulances (two each from Union and Gerald) were needed after a Ford 350 and Chrysler Sebring crashed head-on, killing one and sending seven, transported by Union and Gerald EMS, to Mercy Hospital in Washington, Mo.

Highway 50 was shutdown for nearly five hours while the MSHP's crash reconstruction team worked to determine what led to this evening's fatal accident.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on Highway 50, approximately 1.4 miles west of Old State Road.

Vehicle Travels Off Into Small Creek Leaving One Injured

Beaufort, Mo. - Early Wednesday morning one person was injured after his vehicle ran off the roadway and into a creek along Highway 50.

Beaufort/Leslie Fire and Union EMS responded to the area of Highway 50 approximately two miles east of Highway 185.  When crews arrived on the scene they found a vehicle about 40 feet off the south side of Highway 50 in knee high water.
