Gasconade County Celebrates World Breastfeeding Week

Gasconade County, Mo. - Gasconade County Health Department's WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor program, launched in 2012, has seen great success! Gasconade County WIC statistics show that breastfeeding initiation has increased 87% from last year.
WIC promotes breastfeeding as the optimal infant nutrition. The Breastfeeding Peer Counselor’s role is to educate women prior to birth and is available for support after the baby is born. The peer counselor meets with moms at the Hermann office and the satellite office in Owensville and is also available via phone after office hours.
The program loans hospital-grade double pumps to women who need them. The Gasconade County Health Department can provide women with a personal pump FREE of charge to encourage moms to continue providing their babies with breast milk after they have returned to work.

Owensville, Mo. - The Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League is one of the top National Pulling associations and Motorsport promoters across the country and Thursday night at the Gasconade County Fair, one of only four venues in Missouri to host the Lucas Oil Pro League this year, fans were literally blown away by the amount horsepower the trucks were generating.
The headline from Thursday night's truck and tractor pull comes from the Gateway Tractor Pullers 9200 Super Farm class, where Tom Bruckerhoff of Gerald, Mo. picked up his fourth straight win to remain undefeated after edging out New Haven's Barry Kormeier for the third straight Gateway Tractor Pull.

Owensville, Mo. - Saturday morning began with everyone talking about Hunter Hayes, but ended with everyone talking about the guy who proposed to his girlfriend on stage before Hayes played "Wanted". This couple’s love story is one like you'd see in the movies.
Prior to the concert, Dan approached me and explained what he was wanting do; he asked if I would take photos while he proposed. Of course, I said yes and promised to video him proposing as well. However, I never would have thought it would happen on stage in front of thousands of people. Watch our exclusive video below.

Hayes Fanatics Mad Dash To Stage - Have To See It To Believe It
Owensville, Mo. - By the time Hunter Hayes takes the stage at 8:30 p.m. some fans will have waited over 12 hours. The first Hayes Fanatics were in line at 6:30 a.m. and two girls drove all the way from Austin, Texas with their father just to see Hunter Hayes.

Owensville, Mo. - With a showing of 29 entertaining contestants, the 2013 Little Mister and Little Miss Gasconade County Fair was a big hit with the crowd Wednesday evening at the fair.
Contestants from Owensville, Rosebud, Gerald, Hermann, Morrison, Cuba, and Bland gave it their all as they competed in the on-stage portion of the competition, exhibiting their personality and a talent.
Monday evening, the contestants participated in a round of interviews with the judges.
Cassidy Smith crowned Miss Gasconade County to begin fair festivities

Owensville, Mo. - The Gasconade County Fair began last night with Opening Ceremonies presented by the Color Guard and Gasconade County Deputies, the National Anthem, a prayer by Father Francis from Owensville Immaculate Conception, and the crowning of the 2013 Fair Royalty.
Miss Cassidy Smith, daughter of Jeff and Barb Smith was crowned Miss Gasconade County 2013. She is sponsored by The Therapy Source.
Miss Smith’s final question on stage was “What are your short term and long term goals, and is goal setting important to you?” She responded that short term, she would like to finish her education with good marks and long term, she would like to return to Owensville to teach Kindergarten.
She also stated that goal setting has always been important to her and elaborated on this remark. She performed “American Honey” by Lady Antebellum for her talent.
