Donna Jean Theissen August 14, 1941 - December 9, 2014

Donna  Jean  Theissen, 73, of Hermann, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at University of Missouri Medical Center, Columbia, Missouri.

Mrs. Theissen was born in Washington, Missouri on August 14, 1941, the daughter of the late Robert P. and Mildred J. (Gueltzau) Findlay.

She was the widow of Donald D. "Buck" Theissen.  They were married February 12, 1964 at Hermann United Methodist Church.  Buck preceded her in death on August 8, 2005.

Irene L. Brooks September 17, 1930 - December 3, 2014

Irene  L.  Brooks, 84, of Hermann, Missouri,
passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at her daughter's home in Rhineland, Missouri.

Mrs. Brooks was born in California, Missouri on September 17, 1930, the daughter of the late Lloyd Calvin and Mandia Ellen (Taylor) Smith.

She was the widow of James W. Brooks.   They were married September 5, 1953 at Montgomery City, Missouri.  James preceded her in death on June 23, 1991.

Patricia Joy Buschmann May 15, 1941 - November 26, 2014

Patricia Joy Buschmann (nee Keller), 73, of Hermann, died Wednesday, November 26, 2014. She was born to the late Richard and Bernice Keller on May 15, 1941 in New Haven Missouri. 

Pat was part of the last graduating class of the Excelsior school in New Haven in 1956 and graduated from New Haven High School in 1960. She attended the University of Missouri and soon after lived and worked in St. Louis in the field of cost accounting.

HERMANN, Mo. - St. George School had two teams participate in the First Lego League (FLL) Robotics competition at St. Charles Community College on Saturday, November 15.

The “Techno-Dragons I” received the top overall award, the Champion’s Award, and the “Techno-Dragons II” received 1st place, the Robot Performance Award. In addition to receiving these awards, the teams qualified to advance to the Eastern Missouri Championship.

Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (Part D) Enrollment Event at Hermann Area District Hospital November 21

HERMANN, Mo. - It is important to review Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage each year during open enrollment from October 15 to December 7.  Individuals can use the Medicare Plan Finder at www.medicare.gov to review plans.

For those who would like assistance, representatives from the CLAIM office (State Health Insurance Assistance Program) in Columbia, MO will be at Hermann Area District Hospital on Friday, November 21st to assist individuals in determining the Medicare Part D drug coverage that will best meet their personal needs.

Mildred "Mimi" Schmidt (Ruediger) July 12, 1922 ~ October 18, 2014

Mildred (Mimi) Ruediger Schmidt, 92, of Hermann passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014, surrounded by loving family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Thursday, October 23, at Toedtmann and Grosse Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be at 11 am, Friday, October 24, at St. Paul United Church of Christ. 

Mimi was the only child of Lillie and Connie Ruediger.  Born in 1922, she attended the Hermann Public Schools.  Her musical education began early in life, under the supervision of her father Connie, a pianist and member of various musical groups in Hermann.  Mimi studied music in a St. Louis conservatory where she received her teaching degree. She taught vocal music in the local high school, opened a music studio where she taught generations of pianists and directed the St. Paul Mixed Choir for a decade.

St. George School Offers Free Concert, Activities, and Games This Friday At Clara Eitmann Messmer Amphitheater

HERMANN, Mo -  St. George School has a religious theme each year to help celebrate their faith based Mission.  This year the theme is IGNITE: Spark the Light.  In conjunction with the community wide service project they are offering through SERVE St. Louis, they are closing their Mission week on October 17, 2014 with a grand event.  The event is called “Light Up the Night” celebrating the unity of all denominations within our tri-county area.  

A group named the “Trislers” will be providing the main stage entertainment.  The Trislers, from Illinois play Christian music ranging from traditional hymns to contemporary Christian songs.  They travel the state frequently and are a family act.
