Sixteenth Annual HADH Auxiliary Golf Tournament Raises $7,400

HERMANN, Mo. - The 16th Annual Hermann Area District Hospital /Auxiliary golf tournament once again was a success thanks to the 26 three person teams participating and over 40 sponsors and contributors, a total of $7,400 was raised.

A portion of the funds raised will be used to purchase a Bio-Feedback unit for the Therapy Department, use for bladder control therapy.

Gasconade County R-I School Board Receives 2014 MSBA Governance Team Award

HERMANN, Mo. - The Gasconade County R-I School Board was one of Twenty-One Missouri School Board to receive the Missouri School Board Association’s Governance Team Award.

This prestigious award is based on those school boards’ outstanding commitment to ongoing professional development in areas such as student achievement, school law, finance, board operations, and contemporary issues in education.

Lynne S. Crouch (February 8, 1962 - June 10, 2014)

Lynne S. Crouch, 52, of Hermann, Mo, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Frene Valley Health Center.

Mrs. Crouch was born in Houston, Texas on February 8, 1962, the daughter of the late Charles and Pattie (Shearon) Scott.

Lynne is survived by her three sons, Justin Reynolds & wife Misty of Hermann, Daniel Reynolds of Hermann and Kody Baker of Rhineland, by two sisters Sherry Englert & husband Larry of Rhineland and Milo Vaness of Ripley, Tennessee and by a granddaughter Aubrey Reynolds of Hermann. She is preceded in death by her parents.

River Retires From NHHS After 23 Years

Mrs. Debbie River spent her entire teaching career at New Haven High School and after 23 years as the business teacher Mrs. River has retired, leaving behind a legacy that will soon not be forgotten.

Aside from being remembered as a dedicated teacher who cared deeply about her student’s education, River will be remembered most for establishing an FBLA chapter, which is an interesting story in itself.

I sat down with Mrs. River for a candid interview, where she talked about how she ended up becoming a teacher, establishing an FBLA Chapter, and shared some of her memorable moments during her 23 year career.

Peggy J. Klott (December 14, 1934 - June 8, 2014)

Peggy J. Klott, 79, of Hermann, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at her home.

Mrs. Klott was born in Hermann, Missouri on December 14, 1934, the daughter of the late John and Hyacinth (Wilding) Heberle.

She was the widow of Maurice Henry Klott. They were married April 7, 1956 at St. George Church, Hermann, Missouri. Maurice preceded her in death on November 13, 2010.

Peggy was a member of St. George Church and the Hermann V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed watching sports, her flower garden and crocheting. She worked at International Shoe Factory for 11 years. She then started babysitting in her home, which she did for over 40 years and enjoyed it very much. She had a special relationship with all the children she cared for.

HERMANN, Mo. - The Hermann Area Literacy Advocates (HALA) is a non-profit organization formed to continue the provision of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library for the Hermann Area.

HERMANN, MO. - Swiss Meat and Sausage Company is celebrating their 45th year in business, with beginnings in the century old  "Swiss Country Store", Swiss Meat has turned into a three-generation family business that has gained national fame.

HERMANN, Mo. - On Saturday May 17, Swiss Meat & Sausage Company was full of excitement as the business celebrated its 45th year of being in production.

Bill Sloan started the business with his family in October of 1969.

“We did it for the farmers that raise the animals, but didn’t know what to do with them so we started the business to butcher them, process them, pack them, and send them back to the farmer,” Sloan said.
