Thomas Albert Carey October 29, 1925 - May 30, 2015

Thomas  Albert  Carey, 89, of Leslie, passed away Saturday, May 30th, 2015 at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Carey was born in Richwoods, Missouri on October 29, 1925, the son of the late Albert A. and Nellie (Daugherty) Carey.

He served his country during WWII  in the United States Army. He worked as a chemist in the lab at Hawthorn Finishing Co. in New Haven for many years. He also worked at Ardco in Wellsville, MO and Permaneer Manufacturing in Union. He  owned and operated Lyon Feed Store, and he  farmed.

He was the husband of Irma Lydia (Blaue) Carey. They were married May 2nd, 1953 at the Evangelical Church Parsonage in Marthasville, Missouri.

Tom enjoyed farming and woodworking, spending time with his grandchildren and he was a great storyteller.

Laura Miller’s 5th Novel - When Cicadas Cry - Set For Early Release In July

--When Cicadas Cry, a small-town, second-chance romance by local author Laura Miller, is set to release this July.

When Cicadas Cry is Miller’s fifth novel and is a story about a rural Missouri boy who meets and falls in love with the new girl in town.

“This is my first book where I have woven two perspectives into one story,” Miller said. “So, you’ll get to hear both the guy’s and the girl’s thoughts throughout the book.”

New Haven Girls Track Team Takes 4th Place At State Track Meet

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - For a high school without an actual track, instead they practice on one made out of gravel, this has not stopped New Haven’s Track Team from becoming the most successful sport in Shamrock history, particularly in terms of State Champions.

At this past weekends Missouri Class 1 State Track Meet (May 22-23) the New Haven Girls Track Team added to the collection of State Trophies by walking away with a 4th Place State finish.

Trinity Lutheran Church To Celebrate Trinity Sunday With Special Guest From Dominican Republic

NEW HAVEN, Mo. - Trinity Lutheran Church in New Haven will be celebrating Trinity Sunday on Sunday May 31. Worship service is at 10 a.m., preceded by education hour at 9 a.m.

Our special guest preacher will be Rev. David Preus, missionary to the Dominican Republic. We welcome guests to join us for worship, study, and fellowship.
