Washington Girl Scout Recipient of Top Girl Scout National Honor

WASHINGTON, MO - Jamielee Buenemann, a 2015 graduate of Washington High School and one of Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri’s graduating seniors, was one of only 10 young women nationwide to receive the award.

She completed her Girl Scout Gold Award by researching, designing and constructing a residential-scale wind turbine almost entirely from recycled materials, raising awareness in her community about the accessibility and affordability for renewable energy.

"Being named a National Young Woman of Distinction is the highest honor a girl can earn through Girl Scouts, and it is emblematic of her vision, resolve, and commitment to putting her skills to work to make the world a better place," said Anna Maria Chávez, CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA.

Vipers Win In Dramatic Fashion - Improve To 9-0.

BALLWIN, Mo. - The Vipers are off to a perfect start after defeating the Ballwin Patriots  in slugfest 8-7,on Sunday (May 3) 8-7, improving to 9-0 in the St. Louis West Athletic Association (STLWAA) baseball league. (12 & under age group ).

The Vipers took an early lead in the bottom half of the first when Gavin Mueller knocked a one-out single.  After Andrew Dyson reached on with a walk, Spencer Breckenkamp recorded the Vipers’s second out with an infield ground ball while both runners into scoring position.

The Vipers consist of players from the Franklin County area, including New Haven.

BALLWIN, Mo. - Last weekend on Sunday April, 12 the Vipers went 5-0 to take first place in the St. Louis West Athletic Association (STLWAA) baseball season opener (12 & under age group ) tournament in Ballwin, Mo.

Washington Detectives Investigating A Sudden Death

WASHINGTON, Mo. - Thursday morning Washington Police Chief Ken Hahn released a statement regarding an incident, involving a sudden death that his department is currently investigating.

Chief Hahn said that officers responded in reference to a “Check the Well Being” to the 500 block of West 2nd Street, Wednesday afternoon at 5 p.m.

NEW HAVEN, Mo. - An updated computer model provided by Neville Miller, indicates that the snow forecast is beginning to shift south, which means accumulations for Franklin County may be more in the range of 3’’ to 5’’ with most of it coming today and into tonight.

BREAKING NEWS: Washington PD Offering $1,000 Reward After Armed Robbery Of Fischer’s BP

WASHINGTON, MO. - Washington Police Chief Ken Hahn just announced that The City of Washington is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for the armed robberies in the past week.

This announcement comes after an armed robbery of the Fischer’s BP Gas Station that took place on Monday February 9, at about 9 p.m.

The Fischer’s BP Gas Station on West 5th Street at Elm Street was robbed by a white male subject wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt, blue jeans and a black ski mask. 

UPDATED - BREAKING NEWS: Armed Robbery At Game Depot - Owner Draws His Gun At Suspects

UPDATED 1:36 p.m. Friday - The suspects in Thursday’s armed robbery have been identified as Oscar Rivera, Hispanic male 20 years old, and Ciera J Ruengert, white female 21 years old, both from in New Haven, Mo.

Both suspects have officially been charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Armed Criminal Action and Endangering the Welfare of a Child 2nd Degree (Misdemeanor).  Bond was set at $100,000 cash only on both suspects. 

WASHINGTON, MO - This morning Washington Police Chief Ken Hahn released a statement regarding an armed robbery of the Game Depot, located in 500 block of East 5th Street in Washington, Mo, that occurred Thursday afternoon at approximately 2:13 p.m.

Chief Hahn said that about ten minutes prior to the robbery, a white 21-year-old female entered the Game Depot wearing a hat and facial covering.  The owners thought nothing of this due to the cold weather.  The female looked around and exited the store, possibly because there was another customer there.
